Dufferin Concrete

(February 2014)

Dufferin Concrete Aylmer Ontario

Dufferin Concrete, a division of Holcim (Canada) Inc., is proud to have been a part of the Aylmer community for over 15 years and currently employs 5 people at the Aylmer Plant, which has been located on Elm Street since the 1970s.

Concrete is one of the most widely used and energy efficient construction materials due to its versatility, durability and the positive long-term impact on the environment throughout its lifecycle. It is the foundation of our communities - our homes, schools, hospitals, bridges and even some of our roads.

Dufferin Concrete takes great pride in our contributions to improve the quality of life of the members of our workforce, their families and the communities around our operations. As part of our daily operations, we aim to balance the triple bottom line of economic growth, environmental performance and social responsibility. Some examples include:

  • Dufferin Concrete's innovative solutions with custom engineered concrete products and value-added services that provide the best possible customer experience.
  • As an industry leader, Dufferin Concrete was the first ready-mix provider to implement the EnviroGuard ready-mix truck chute washout system on its fleet. The self-contained system effectively eliminates concrete chute waste water from being released into the environment and led to an Ontario Road Builders' Association Green Readership & Sustainability Award in 2011.
  • Whether its Dufferin Concrete employees making a donation of non-perishable food to the Aylmer Area Community Foundation or concrete for the Town of Aylmer Splash Pad, the Aylmer Plant is committed to giving back in the community.
  • Dufferin Concrete also works with our customers and suppliers on the Holcim Canada Ready-Mix Drum Sponsorship Program in support of Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre, which provides specialized paediatric services to children in Southwestern Ontario.

Dufferin Concrete has 33 plants across Southern Ontario and produces a variety of custom concrete mixes to meet technical specifications for commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential construction customers.

IGPC Ethanol banner

IGPC Ethanol Inc. supports local farmers and promotes a clean environment through sustainable renewable fuel production.

IGPC Ethanol Inc. began producing fuel ethanol in October 2008. Located right here in the town of Aylmer, they are right in the middle of Ontario's corn country. They produce 150 million litres of ethanol annually and our distillers grains are marketed and trucked out to area beef, dairy and pork operations.

IGPC Ethanol Inc. is wholly owned by Integrated Grain Processors Co-operative Inc., one of the largest agricultural co-operatives in Ontario. The co-operative was founded in 2002 by a group of farmers and agri business people looking to add value to Ontario's agricultural production.

The plant is staffed by a dedicated team of nearly 50 full-time employees and incorporates an automated process control system. This system monitors some 8000 separate parameters throughout the entire process.

We partner with Cargill who buys all of our corn, Eco Energy who markets the ethanol and Furst McNess who markets the DDGS.
