Love is Blind

L' amour est aveugle - French

No matter how we say it "Love is Blind"

Please watch out for our ducks as love is in the air and "Love is Blind"

HELP OUR TREES!

The Town of Aylmer's urban canopy needs your help. With little precipitation predicted and higher than average temperatures, we are asking for the public's help with watering your tree/s. Water either early morning or late evening for approximately 1hr every 5 or 6 days just at the base of the tree. One deep watering is more beneficial than several shallow waterings.

If at all possible water between 7:00 & 11:00 a.m. or 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

An interesting way to kill unwanted weeds or grass is called solarization. All you need is a clear plastic sheet with a 6 mm width. Cover the area with the clear plastic making sure to anchor it down on the location. With a little patience you will achieve the desired results "chemical free" for your weed control or garden development.

Recreation is defined as "Refreshment of the strength and spirits after toil".

TIP

If you have ever noticed a cavity in a tree, you may not be aware that there are over 50 species of birds & mammals that call that cavity home. Winter provides an excellent viewing time to spot woodpeckers, saw-whet owls & the ever busy red-breasted nuthatch to name a few.

These cavities provide food, shelter and safety for our wildlife, giving us the enjoyment of watching our natural environment interact.

Benefits of Urban Trees

  • One large tree can provide a day's oxygen for up to four people.
  • One large tree can lift up to 100 gallons of water out of the ground and discharge into the air in one day.
  • The psychological impact of trees on people's moods, emotions and enjoyment of their surrounding may be one of the greatest benefits urban forests provide.
