Mayor’s Welcome

Welcome to the Town of Aylmer !

I hope that you will take just a few moments to look around this website and see how active and caring our businesses and volunteers and municipal workers are.

We are proud to be a small town with a full service capability. As the business hub for the eastern part of Elgin County, we offer all areas of commercial service, be it furniture, appliances, clothing, banking, recreational or any other necessity. A number of industries have built plants here in the last few years: a large Ethanol plant; a clock and church pew manufacturer; a maker of agricultural storage bins; and a steel-rolling assembly plant have all found Aylmer the best place to locate. We are constantly adding to our fully serviced commercial and industrial lands.

We also have many home-grown and locally operated enterprises: a local newspaper and nationally known quality print shop (The Aylmer Express); a local phone/cable/internet provider (EastLink); and an electric utility (ERTH Corp.). Aylmer is one of the few small communities that has its own Police Services. Our secondary school is also truly full service: it provides every program and course with basic and gifted as well as co-op areas. Our Community Complex is jointly managed with the Township of Malahide and offers two professional sized rinks and several banquet and meeting rooms.

Our volunteer mentality is shown by the continued growth of our service clubs and by the incredible efforts put forth in restoring our community Bandshell, and in pulling the community together for such projects as a Skateboard Park, and a Splashpad. The whole Town also joins forces to compete in Communities in Bloom and were indeed National Champions in 2007 and have placed extremely well in International Competition in 2008 and 2010. We are a full service volunteer community.

Aylmer is a true "old-fashioned" yet modern community. We are very proud of our heritage and are eager to showcase the unique nature of our downtown and our Old Town Hall which now serves as a Library. We are one of the few small towns which has its own Museum. But we are also leaders in modern biofuel technology (in our Ethanol Plant). All things considered, Aylmer is a great place to live, work, raise a family, and retire. Take a look around!
